Taupo Water & Wastewater Pipe Renewals 2020-21

Scope of Works

Renewal of water mains and wastewater rising mains in Central Taupo and Bonshaw Park.  Work was divided into  three Separable Portions:

 

Separable Portion 1 (Bonshaw Park)

  • Renewal of approximately 2,730m of asbestos cement and PVC water mains and rider mains and a 1,325m PVC water main.
  • Installation of new Polyethylene PE100 PN12.5 DN250, 180, 125, 63 and 25mm pipes using both open trench excavation and trenchless installation methods.
  • Replacement of all valves, fire hydrants and fittings.
  • Supply, installation, and reinstatement of new service connections to Lots, with DN250, and DN63mm pipe with meter/toby boxes and water meters.
  • Removal of all redundant valves, hydrants, and fittings, abandon and cap redundant lines.
  • Pipeline testing, disinfection, and commissioning.

 

Separable Portion 2 (Taupo Township)

  • Renewal of approximately 6,150m of aging asbestos cement water mains and rider mains.
  • Installation of new Polyethylene PE100 PN12.5 DN315, 280, 250, 180, 125, 63 and 25mm using both open trench excavation or trenchless installation methods.
  • Replacement of all valves and fire hydrants and all fittings.
  • Supply, installation, and reinstatement of new service connections to Lots, with DN250, and DN63mm pipe with meter/toby boxes and water meters.
  • Removal of all redundant valves, hydrants, and fittings, abandon and cap redundant lines.
  • Pipeline testing, disinfection, and commissioning.

 

Separable Portion 3 (Chad Street,  Lake Terrace and Titiraupenga Street, Taupo)

  • Replacement of Asbestos Cement wastewater rising mains.
  • Removal of 661m of DN150, AC sewer rising main.
  • Replacement with PE100 PN12.5 DN180, and 125mm with all fittings.
  • Removal of all redundant valves, hydrants, and fittings, abandon and cap redundant lines.
  • Pipeline testing, disinfection, and commissioning.

 

Works were programmed around Ironman World Championships with no construction activities permitted from 1 November to 30 November 2020.
